After days of usual rumors and abstract announcements, Airbnb has finally launched its redesigned website and mobile app along with modern company logo, which is totally different from older one. It has giving fresh and modern look and feel of Airbnb brand. However, overall functionality of Airbnb website and mobile app remains almost unchanged.
Airbnb is a popular international website where people rent out lodging. It is privately held company, founded in 2008 and has its headquarters in San Francisco, USA. Airbnb has over half million listings in more than 30,000 cities of 190 countries - in fact, it is a massively popular, effective and growing platform.
Airbnb's new logo, conceived out of upper-case 'A' letter, is currently trending on social media - it seems people have welcomed this change. By default, on desktop version of website, the 'a' letter logo with text 'airbnb' appears in white colour on top left corner. As further step, Airbnb has also plans to give users a freedom to customize logo based on global or personal events. For instance, Airbnb has demonstrated four versions of the logo, which represent semi final teams of Football World Cup. Basically, this is not a new idea and is being used on Google home page.
Airbnb ebsite and mobile app are now based on flat design - WELCOME HOME page has a horizontal search form at the top (with dynamic background image) and towards the bottom we see a grid of top tourist attractions. When you click on one of tourist attractions, it displays listings and a map with all listings tagged on it. On top right you have panel where you can change search criteria. No doubt, the design has powerful and lightweight graphics, and user-friendly navigation. Airbnb users are definitely going to enjoy and appreciate website and mobile app design.
