Earlier, in the mid of this year, Amazon launched Fire Phone. Amazingly, Amazon has dropped the price of the Fire Phone again second time, at least for a limited time. Now this smartphone is available for just $199, unlocked and contract free. As before, Amazon also includes a free, one-year Prime membership with every purchase. The latest sale follows a price drop in September when Amazon sold the device for $0.99 on a two-year contract, or $449 unlocked.
The bundle of the Prime service with the Fire Phone makes for an interesting offer for those who haven't signed up for Amazon's Prime service or are considering doing so in time for the holiday shopping season as the extra $100 gets you an unlocked smartphone that's not tethered to a new two-year contract in addition to all the benefits of Prime.
Not to mention, the Fire Phone comes with a full-year membership of Amazon Prime, which would usually cost $99.
The phone hasn't sold well since its launch in July. The marketing firm Chitika released a study in August in which it tracked Fire phone adoption, finding that it was slow yet steady a few weeks after the phone's launch.
